I was offered a job at a retirement facility and was asked to go to the sheriffs dept and have a criminal background check done. What all does this show? Do I pay for this myself? Will I be fingerprinted?
What does a background check done at the sheriffs dept entail?

It will show every run in you have had with the law (including traffic tickets) that resulted in a conviction. It is not supposed to show arrests unless they resulted in a conviction. You will pay for it and they will fingerprint you. Your employer should pay for it if it is “clean”, regardless if you are hired or not.
