Sheriff Arpaio ROCKS!!!

I think that this is none of sheriff’s business.

The sheriff does not understand that he is creating a police state in his county by not following orders. By taking the law into his own hands he is aiding in criminals that will prey on illegals since they know that they will not call the cops. So in effect the sheriff is promoting rape, robbery, exploitation and enslavement of illegals. There using your head.

Arpaio claims he has the authority to continue wasting his scarce resources chasing down broken tail lights on cars and terrorizing Hispanic neighborhoods.

Others beg to differ, including the federal Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

ICE officials signed an agreement with Arpaio on Friday stipulating, unambiguously, that his authority to track the immigration status of suspected illegal immigrants under the 287(g) program extends only to inmates processed through county jails.

“That does not provide him any authority to conduct activities outside the jails,” Assistant Homeland Security Secretary John Morton said Friday in an interview with an Arizona Republic editorial writer.

With his classic, melodramatic defiance working in overdrive, Arpaio has tried claiming he had the authority from . . . somewhere else. He has cited a mishmash of “law,” virtually none of which exists, as it turns out.

With County Attorney Andrew Thomas by his side, the sheriff two weeks ago distributed to reporters a document that he claimed included language from Title 8 of the federal code authorizing him to conduct sweeps. As it turns out, the language he cited came from an anti-immigrant Web site, not from federal statute.

People of more conventional ego would be humiliated by such a discovery. Sheriff Arpaio, instead, launched yet another sweep on Friday, his 12th.

That same day, however, Homeland Security’s Morton made it expressly clear that whatever law Arpaio thinks authorizes him to chase down unlucky Hispanics, it isn’t by virtue of federal law.

“This is a matter for the state Legislature, the county board of supervisors or other Arizona authority,” said Morton. “How he conducts his sweeps is a matter of state law.”

For the record, state law authorizes law-enforcers to pursue the likes of human-smuggling gangs, not to conduct immigrant-hunting sweeps.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is authorized to perform “jail enforcement,” the practice of tracking the legal status of inmates, through its agreement with ICE. Since first inked in 2007, that agreement has identified more than 30,000 illegal immigrants among jail inmates. He has only identified 300 illegals with his sweeps.

The federal government should be seeking help from every law enforcement agency, every school, every hospital, every financial institution, every state DMV and every employer to root out illegal immigrants.

That the Obama administration will not do this says they are not serious about illegals.
