What do Think of this Deputies arrest 69 illegal aliens in 24-hour period by Maricopa County Sheriff’s?

19 Apr

(Maricopa County, AZ) In the past 24 hours, Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested 69
illegal aliens in the act of violating felony state human smuggling laws. The arrests are the result of
three separate traffic stops, one of which that led deputies to a drop house at the 1700 block of
Freemont Rd in Phoenix where 19 illegal aliens were discovered and arrested.Sheriff Arpaio confirmed that one of the suspects arrested, Jose Luna-Zamarripa DOB 07-11-1986,
was previously arrested by Maricopa County sheriff’s deputies for human smuggling in 2008.
Zamarripa was deported after serving a sentence in state prison and has apparently returned back to
the human smuggling trade. These arrests are a result of Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s recent promise to ensure that all 900 of his sworn
deputies receive training on the enforcement of illegal immigration laws.Sheriff Arpaio states that the rate of arrests made by his office for human smuggling violations at
this point of the year is already almost triple what it was this time last year. This is a significant
increase considering the fact that the federal government just recently stripped the Sheriff’s authority
to allow 100 federally trained deputies to act as Immigration and Custom’s Enforcement (ICE)
agents under the 287(g) program.“This proves that I am keeping my promise to the people of Maricopa County and that I am
continuing to press forward on the illegal immigration problem we are facing. Obviously the
numbers suggest that illegal aliens are still coming into this country and we are still arresting them,”
Arpaio says.
Since the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office began enforcing felony state human smuggling laws,
1,874 illegal aliens have been arrested and booked into the county jail on felony smuggling
violations.
The Maricopa county Sheriff’s Office continues to be the only law enforcement agency to enforce
all aspects of state human smuggling laws.http://www.mcso.org/include/pr_pdf/3-2-2010%20News%20Release.pdf

Not as many people support illegal immigration as you probably think. But many don’t believe these people should be beaten to death or otherwise mistreated.
I have no problem, however, with arresting people who are breaking the law.

If they’re US citizens, charge them with a crime. If not, send them home express.

Personally I think that finally someone is actually enforcing the damn laws !!!! Who cares who protest the arrests, they were illegals there by entering this country illegally, that’s a crime and they should be punished. Two Thumbs Up for Maricopa Country Sheriff’s Department, Great Job !!!!!!

I applause his efforts to stop illegal aliens. If someone wants to enter the US, that’s fine, just go through the legal methods. I think Sheriff Arpaio is doing a great job. The feds have no power to remove the Sheriffs power. As a law enforcement officer that has been voted in, the Sheriff has more power then any federal officer. I think anyone demanding the illegals be released needs to realize what the huge influx of illegals is doing to the Country.

Where is there any indication in this story that they were being mistreated by the authorities? If anything, consider this: 69 people arrested in 3, count ‘em, 3 separate traffic stops. Those were some OVERCROWDED vehicles. The coyotes put not only the illegal aliens they’re smuggling at risk, but citizens and police when they try to run, as they have been known to do. You’d think by now, people smugglers would know to avoid the area.

They should all be given full medical exams, then check with the transplant bank and take parts real Americans need from them, throw what is left in the trash where it belongs.

I love it. The Mexican Mafia is losing all those ugly dope dealers they placed in Phoenix and Phoenix is becoming one of the nicest places to live in the United States.

Folks… the Mexican Mafia does its trick in the Barrio. They are killing the Hispanic kids, and Sheriff Joe is one of the best of them at stopping that. Unless of course, you don’t like kids. I think there are a lot of Sheriffs looking at that, and while they want to do the same thing, they want a less visible method of doing what Sheriff Joe is doing.

    Tell someone…

Get the Mexican Mafia out of our neighborhoods.

I think any person who is caught breaking the law has a bed in a building waiting for them. Jail time people! I do not live in the area you are asking about but I do think bookish has said something that might be correct but does not happen as a norm. I read the US News everyday and do not read where people charged with being illegal aliens are being mistreated. There are cases of police beating up people for nor reason and for beating up people they should not have beat, but because of the actions of the people. I have read of quite a few cases all across the country where illegal people have been driving wile drinking and some have been responsible for innocent deaths. But as for your question, anybody caught breaking the law knows and should be put in jail. I also do not see anything wrong with a road block that checks license, insurance, drinking, illegal aliens, safety or any other thing that helps me to be safer while I am on the road.

ICE/FBI are having a nationwide sting operation, or so it seems. Other states have been doing the same thing. However, Bookish is correct on the mistreatment of the illegals that are arrested (even though it doesn’t state it in the article). Many ICE officers don’t treat many of them humanely. Our country has always been a country who ‘praises’ human rights and we are the first to criticize other countries for mistreatment of citizens, so if we are going to criticize, we should practice what we preach.

There are no “supporters of illegals”. Only people who does not agree with the illegals be placed at the level of timothy McVeigh
