An image of an old black woman or man – who has lived through the worst chapter in civil rights in this country, one who marched with King and endured beatings, dog attacks, firehouse, was spat upon, denied voting rights, education, and employment – embracing Obama at an event with tears streaming done her face, placing her gnarled hands with worn wrinkled black skin against his cheek as she gazes into his eyes. He is the person she could have never dreamed of being. He is the person her children could have never dreamed of being He is the person that she never though she would live long enough to see. At the end of her life, she knows this the last chance she will have to see the likes of Obama. He is the personification of the struggle of black people in America history. He is Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Rosa Parks, Frederick Douglas, Harriet Tubman, Thurogood Marshall. He is the runaway slave who risks his life wondering through the swamp trying to find the Underground Railroad. He is the civil rights protester whose head was bloodied by a vicious county sheriff on the steps of the courthouse in an attempt to exercise his right to vote. He is the reincarnation of the man whose mangled and mutilated body swung from the branch of a giant oak tree in the backwoods of the Deep South. She looks up at Obama and see them all – and cries her last tears for them.
The question is clearly stated in bold print at the top. This writing doesnt offer any excuses for blacks and isnt accusing any whites of the present day of anything. It is simply citing history that some dont want to acknowledge or would rather not be reminded of. Yet it is the truth and does play a role in what makes America great.

Obama doesnt represent the govt giving blacks anything that they are not entitled to. In fact, he spoke of personal responsibility last night adn before the NAACP earlier this year.

The Civil Rights Movement was not about that black being victims and wanting something they were not entitled to. THey were demanding equality and rights – what they deserved as Americans who helped build this country and have fought in every war that it has had. If you were truly there, you would know that. I doubt that you were.
Julie Knows is a seething racist. There is nothing in the post about the government or whites owing blacks anything. Everything that blacks have gotten was earned anyway.
