Do you see what the “Revolving door” of Illegal aliens, deported, coming back, deported again costs us?

Failure to Uphold Immigration Laws Leads to the Death of a Deputy Sheriff
Written by Ronald W. Mortensen – CIS.org

During the past several months, I have commented on the failure of law enforcement officials to enforce the nation’s immigration laws, thereby giving illegal alien criminals an advantage that they should not have.
Law enforcement officials argue that they have to give illegal aliens a pass for violating immigration laws in order to gain their confidence and support. While this may work in some cases, it also leaves violent, criminal illegal aliens free to go about their business.
The most recent example of this can be found in a rural area in western Utah where an illegal alien has been accused of killing a female deputy sheriff.
The accused killer’s immigration status should not have gone unnoticed in the small community where everyone knows everyone else. After all, he had been deported multiple times and been arrested twice for illegally reentering the United States. He had even served jail time for illegal entry.
In addition, he was a known drug dealer and had sold drugs to the brother of the deputy sheriff only minutes before he killed her.
His MySpace page showed him with firearms even though both as a convicted felon and an illegal alien he was not allowed to possess firearms.
He was apparently able to readily find employment with dairy farmers in the area even though he was not authorized to work in the United States.
This is a tragedy that did not have to happen. Had the accused killer served his first prison term of 15 years rather than being released and deported after just 14 months, or had he been given the maximum sentence for reentry into the United States, he would not have been back in the community.
Had the federal government controlled the border, he would not have been in the United States.
Had the sheriff and other law enforcement officials sought the assistance of immigration authorities, they could have arrested the accused murderer at any time for illegally reentering the United States and he could have been sentenced to a long prison term.
Had anyone viewing the MySpace page of the accused killer reported his illegal possession of firearms to law enforcement, he could have been arrested.
Had local dairy farmers used E-Verify rather than turning a blind eye to his illegal status, he would not have been able to find work and may have left the area.
And had citizens of the community truly understood that illegal aliens routinely commit multiple felonies to get jobs and that they foster a culture of corruption, they may have been less accommodating to the illegal aliens in their midst.
There is enough blame to go around in this case, but it is inexcusable for law enforcement officials to let a known illegal alien continue to live and work in their jurisdiction. Had they just used the immigration laws that are already on the books, they may have saved the life of one of their own.

Can I legally get back into my house during foreclosure?

24 May

I’m in the process of bankruptcy and we’re foreclosing on our house. We’ve moved out already, however, we still have some things I’d like to get out if I can. Problem is: there is a lockbox on the door, and it went up for a sheriff’s auction this past Friday (and it did sell). I am assuming that we’ve lost our stuff, but I thought I’d ask here anyway. This is in Ohio in case that matters.

How can one get back their home after a foreclosure and sheriff sale? What options remain for the homeowner?

the family farm was forclosed and did not sell at the sheriffs sale.. can we still get it back?

08 May

we filed bankruptcy and let our farm go into foreclosure. the sheriffs sale came and went, but no one bought it so it sits empty. legally, we can still be there ( or store things there, in this case) for 6 months from the date of the sale. out of curiosity, at this point, since the bank can’t sell it, is it possible to get it back? the mortgage payments were HUGE.. that’s why we let it go. our credit is crap now because of the bankruptcy. I am curious because the farm has been in my husbands family for 70 years, so it is sentimental, and also i would think the bank would be desperate to get some money for it. would they be willing to lower the payments? the farm was not included in the bankruptcy.
the farm is more of a hobby farm at only 7 acres. it oringinally was 150 acres. it was where my father in law grew up. when “Pa” left home and married in 1950, he bought the ajoining farmstead which at the time was 150 or so acres. he farmed both places together for many years. then , when they retired and moved to town,my husband was offered the chance to buy the the 7 acres that his granparents house and outbuildings were on from his parents while his brother got offered the rest of the land, inc. the farmhouse where they were raised. ( he’s still mad about that- my brother in law sucks at farming) my brother in law took over the business. The farm is ran under a corporation. i wonder if there would be a way for him to buy our farm ( the grandparents old place) through the corporation citing it for farming purposes or something…??? he would then own the whole section. i don’t know how all that works, i’m just coming up with whatever at this point.

Would you accept a job postion if you know in the back of your mind that you wont be there that long?

07 May

I was offered a security supervisor job withing a high rise building, and the thing is that there is a big possibility that I may get hired on with my sheriff department which could be another 6-8 months before I actually start the academy, I have a second job at night but need a job during the day to help pay off tickets, is it selfish for me to accept the postion, knowing I will not be there that long? What would you do?

What would 5 police cars be doing parked on a back road..?

01 May

It was 9pm, on a back road, we passed 3 state cruisers, a town cruiser, and a sheriff cruiser all parked on the side of the road, not far from houses, but not right next to them either, they were next to the woods. No officers were around or in their cars. No lights on. What could have been going on?

Anyone heard about what happened to former Met Now D Back Scott Schoeneweis?

16 Apr

His wife was found dead today by the wife’s 14 year old daughter. Very sad. Thoughts & condolences go out to Scott Schoeneweis his kids & the rest of the family. ->

FOUNTAIN HILLS, Ariz. (AP)—The wife of Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Scott Schoeneweis(notes) was found dead at her home Wednesday.

Police said the cause of death hasn’t been determined.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said deputies found the body of 39-year-old Gabrielle Dawn Schoeneweis on the floor of the master bedroom in the family’s suburban home shortly after noon.

Authorities said her 14-year-old daughter called the sheriff’s office to report that she had found her mother lying there and unresponsive.

A team spokesman said Schoeneweis had left the team, which was playing a doubleheader in Florida on Wednesday night, and was returning to Phoenix.

“At this point, anything we can do to support Scott and his family, will be our focus,” said Diamondbacks general manager Josh Byrnes, who was with the team. “I have talked to Scott Boras, the agent, a few times. We’re trying to get the facts the best we can. It’s devastating news. Everyone is taking it very hard.”

The 35-year-old Schoeneweis came to the Diamondbacks last December in a deal with the New York Mets, who agreed to pay $1.6 million of his $3.6 million salary for 2009.

Schoeneweis, a survivor of testicular cancer, is 45-55 with a 4.89 ERA in 11 seasons with five teams, the last two in New York.

Scott and Gabrielle Dawn Schoeneweis celebrated their 10th anniversary in January. They had three children together, and she already had a daughter when they were married.

“His world was just rocked. He and his kids, his family, his extended family, his in-laws, everybody’s lives are changed forever. He took it as expected, very hard,” Diamondbacks manager A.J. Hinch said after Arizona lost 8-6 to Florida in the first game. “As I told the team, just give him as much support as you can. Really, tell people that you love them if you do. You can never expect something like this to happen.”

Arizona starter Doug Davis(notes) said he was told about 30 minutes before making his start against Florida.

“A.J. brought everybody together and told us about it. Obviously our thoughts and prayers are with him,” Davis said. It is a tough time for not just him, but all of us and his family. It’s tragic. You don’t know what else to do, but to pray for him.”

Francisco Rodriguez(notes), who teamed with Schoeneweis in the Angels bullpen in 2002 and 2003, said he was “speechless” when he heard the news.

“I’m sad for him,” Rodriguez said. “I can’t imagine what he’s going through right now, all the pain he’s going through.”

Former Mets teammate Ryan Church(notes) added: “He’s always been able to battle through adversity because he’s had cancer before. Everybody needs to be thinking about him and his family and just pray, pray a lot.”

Mets manager Jerry Manuel said he still considers Schoeneweis part of his family. “I mentioned that to our people, that we’ve got to reach out and do all we can to help support him at this time,” Manuel said. “And whatever he needs from us, we’ll be here for him.”
