More than 30 criminal aliens, immigration fugitives and immigration violators have been removed from the United States or are facing deportation today resulting from a special enforcement action carried out by an interagency task force led by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Fugitive Operations Team in Phoenix. During the operation, which concluded Saturday, ICE officers worked with partners from the U.S. Marshals Service and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office to locate, identify and arrest 31 illegal aliens. Of those taken into custody, a total of 19 were immigration fugitives, aliens who have ignored final orders of deportation or who returned to the United States illegally after being removed. Six of those arrested had criminal histories in addition to being in the country illegally.

Among those taken into custody by ICE during this special enforcement operation was Carlos Solis-Morales, 38, a citizen of El Salvador previously convicted for possession of cocaine for sale.

The majority of those arrested during the operation were from Mexico

Do you all agree that those out of control cops in Maryland that beat that young man be arrested?

and charged with assault and fired from their jobs without pay?

If I were the sheriff, those cops would be arrested. Some cops think that they can do whatever they feel like to people without getting into trouble. We the people need to change that.

NAACP leader arrested- is this racism?

20 May

Every time blacks are arrested, it is called RACISM. Never mind that the person actually did something wrong. In this case, however, the person was stealing from the very organization that IS for black people! Will blacks call this arrest racism? If they do, then that proves that they think this person who embezzled from their own organization did no wrong, correct? I would love to see the black folks thoughts on this –

ATLANTA — Police arrested the former director of Atlanta’s chapter of the NAACP on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, charging her with embezzling from the organization.

Judith Withers-Hanson is accused of stealing $275,000 from the NAACP.

Tracy Flanagan, a spokeswoman for the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, said the charges were later upgraded to theft by deception, theft by conversion, credit card fraud and unauthorized use of a credit card.

The Rev. Amos Brown, the chapter’s new administrator, said the arrest came after warrants were issued for Hanson and her former assistant, Saundra Douglass.

Police are still looking for Douglass.

Investigators said the pair applied for credit cards and wrote checks from the NAACP to pay for expensive meals, furniture, dental work and college tuition.

What is your opinion here Sheriff Joe Arpaio has arrested in a 30-day period 141 illegals in America?

07 May

PHOENIX — The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday that it has arrested 35 more undocumented immigrants, bringing the 30-day total to 141.

According to MCSO, the Tuesday night’s arrests came after three separate traffic stops in the far North Valley. Deputies from the Human Smuggling Unit identified and stopped the vehicles. Most of the suspects were booked on state human smuggling charges, which is a Class 4 felony.

Last week, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio launched a new program that will give nearly 900 sworn deputies training in detecting and arresting undocumented immigrants. Arpaio’s goal with the program is to educate his deputies about enforcing state and federal immigration laws.

Last October, the Department of Homeland Security stripped Arpaio and his department of the authority to arrest suspected illegal immigrants based only on their immigration status. According to MCSO, Homeland Security said Arpaio’s controversial crime sweeps “were not consistent with their priorities.”

In a demonstration wrought with symbolism, Arpaio had nearly 100 deputies, each of whom underwent more than a month of special training, turn in their ICE credentials after the DHS decision, putting the wallets, quite literally, on ice.

Since the DHS announcement, Arpaio has plainly stated that he will continue conducting his crime suppression sweeps.

“I will not back down to pressures from the federal government, open-border activists, and politicians who choose to ignore this problem for fear of offending certain groups of people. This illegal immigration problem is serious and has the potential to affect everyone,” Arpaio stated in a news release.

Arpaio said he believes his new training program will lead to even more arrests

What is your opinion N.Va. enforces immigration laws illegal aliens being arrested as Ariz. rages?

07 May

The national outcry over Arizona’s immigration law is nothing new for Prince William County residents — hundreds ofpeople on both sides of the illegal immigration debate poured into marathon public hearings in fall 2007 when the county was passing its crackdown.

Since then, the county has turned over more than 2,000 suspected illegal immigrants to the federal government, and crime last year reached a 15-year low.

Other Northern Virginia jurisdictions also have turned over hundreds of suspected illegal immigrants to Immigration and Customs Enforcement through their own programs.

But law enforcement officials remain wary about their new roles enforcing federal law, and immigration experts and immigrant advocates warn that such steps can have negative consequences, such as racial profiling and a loss of trust with local police
Implementing Prince William’s crackdown involved drafting a legally soundpolicy and training hundreds of officers, as well as conducting a significant community outreach program with more than 300 meetings, said Deputy Police Chief Barry Barnard.

“It was a new role for us,” he said. “Traditionally, local law enforcement doesn’t enforce immigration laws.”

The county partnered with the federal government under the 287(g) program, which allows local law enforcement officials to enforce certain immigration laws.

Prince William’s original proposal was so sweeping that it asked county officials if it would be possible to keep illegal immigrants off county roads and away from the county Web site.

County supervisors scaled back the measure, voting in October 2007 to direct police officers to check the residency status of crime suspects if they had probable cause to believe they were in the country illegally.

In 2008, the policy was changed to require officers to check the status of everyone arrested. Officers then had to be retrained, Barnard said.

Loudoun also participates in 287(g), as well as the federal Secure Communities program, which Sheriff Stephen O. Simspon said he prefers because it runs fingerprints of everyone arrested through biometric immigration records held by the Department of Homeland Security and FBI criminal records

Did anybody else see this 21 arrested after raid of 4 McDonald’s restaurants, 1 home?

02 May

MARICOPA COUNTY, AZ – A raid targeting illegal immigration led to the arrests of 21 Phoenix-area McDonald’s workers Friday, and authorities were still seeking 30 other employees as part of their investigation.

Deputies armed with search warrants raided McDonald’s restaurants in Scottsdale, Tempe and Mesa Friday morning.

The McDonald’s locations include:

•McDonald’s 1516 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale
•McDonald’s 3218 South McClintock, Tempe
•McDonald’s 2130 West Southern, Mesa
•McDonald’s 1460 West Southern, Mesa
Arpaio said information developed by his deputies indicates that over 50 employees working at the businesses may be using falsified or stolen identities for the purposes of gaining employment.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio says it will take more time to determine whether any of them are illegal immigrants as officials suspect.

Deputies also searched a mansion in Paradise Valley. The mansion is owned by Richard Coulston, who owns the restaurants. Coulston was not arrested.

McDonald’s Corp. referred comment to Coulston’s company, R&L Management. In a statement, the company says people shouldn’t jump to conclusions without all the facts.

“The company has trained its managers and hiring personnel regarding proper hiring procedures,” Pace said. “It does not permit the hiring of employees without completing those procedures … Any individuals unable to meet the legal requirements for establishing authorization to work are not hired.”

Pace said the company was cooperating with the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio said Friday afternoon that McDonald’s employees had been prepped on what to do if they were raided.

Arpaio also said most employees’ records were not kept at the store, but at the Coulston’s lawyer’s office.

Arpaio said deputies were tipped off in November to the McDonald’s they raided by a caller to their illegal immigration hot line, and the tipster alleged several employees bragged about being illegal immigrants.

Deputies used government databases to identify 51 workers who appear to be illegal workers, and were looking for the 30 outstanding suspects.

County officials said if any of the workers turns out to be an illegal immigrant, it could be their fourth civil case under the employer sanctions law, which penalizes employers for knowingly hiring illegal immigrants. The law, which is more than two years old, carries license suspensions and revocations for those who knowingly make illegal hires and is designed to reduce the economic incentive for immigrants to cross the border.

I was arrested for misdemeanor theft in 1998 and skipped state, never went to court.?

28 Apr

18 months ago, the warrant showed up on a employment background check. I checked the county sheriff website tonight to see if it was still active and it did not show up. It did show up on the same website 18 months ago. Since it has now been more than 10 years since the offense, has the warrant expired? I have had no law related issues since.
Thanks
