You need to show them some evidence that you are at higher risk of gun-related crime than the average person. For example, you could say that you need to walk through dangerous areas alone late at night, you carry large amounts of cash, etc. Basically, what they are looking for is risk factors, something that makes you more vulnerable to crime that you could mitigate by carrying a gun. I don't hink the Eagle Scout will pull any weight one way or another though. And rethink the wording of protect your family, it could be taken as vigilante style justice. As to the armed robbery, you could only use your gun if you or somebody else's life was in Immediate harm.
