how do you write a formal complaint to the sheriffs department?

I am a criminal justice major and have done work with local PD. After getting several complaints from teachers at my school about people parking irratically during basketball games, (in fire lanes and on sidewalk), i decided to call the sheriffs department and ask for something to possibly be done. i was very nice about it. Then, a deputy called me and told me this exact thing. “School parking is not a law enforcement matter, the school needs to enforce that not me. You need to keep your nose out of peoples buisness because its not your problem. I dont go to where you work and tell you how to do your job do i?) along with some other conversation. How do i write a complaint to the department without getting in trouble?

I applied to my local sheriff department in the beginning of december I have already taken the typing test, criticall and I have gone before the board. After waiting 3 weeks I finally received a call back offering conditional employment. With an offer of permanent employment if i successfully complete the background check, polygraph, hearing test, drug test, and two psychological exams (one written and the other verbal). Now i am not concerned with the drug test, the back ground check, or the psych exams because I’m not crazy. But as for the polygraph I am a little nervous, now I’ve never murdered anyone or committed any major crime but when I was younger I did steal a couple things (yea i know young and dumb) but that was a long time ago. I just want to know what type of questions they will ask? I really want this job and i was told as long as your truthful it shouldn’t count against you but i still concerned because with a polygraph its only yes or no you cant explain anything. Can anyone help me out it will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

ok to start out with, we moved here, and they had already lived here. We live in the woods. I used to be friends with her daughter, until her daughter started hanging out with these chicks who were really mean to her, and didn’t want to hang out with me again. I was about 7 at the time, maybe 6. The mother was super weird. She gaveme milk from her when she was nursing (I was 2 and asked for milk from the store!) And she would tell her kid that there were bears and wild boars if she went too far from the house (there are neither) Ever since we stopped being friends her mother has done many strange things:
When I was 8 she called the cops on me saying I poisened her dogs. I WAS 8! First of all I’m afraid to be on my own property because her dogs attack, and go onto everyone’strash cans, and property. The SPCA hasn’t done anythigna about it. SECOND of all what really happened was one of the neighbors left a poisoned chicken out to kill the rats at her house, and the dog found it.
The next night “someone” threw rocks inot our house, and andalized my mothers car. SHe won’t say it was the neighbors ‘caz she is a pastor.
EVERTIME I would drive by her on the one lane road she would glare at me or call names out at me. THEN a few years ago she came plowing up the hill, and into my car. You must stop before going over the hil to make sure there is no one there!
TODAY I came down the road, and stopped at the hill, saw a car, beeped (which is what you are suposed to do) and she swerved and nearly missed my new leased car, screamed “you fucking bitch” at me, and drove off.
WHAT CAN I DO??? I’m SURE I can get my neighbors to sign some sort of pitittion about the dogs, and turn it into the sheriffs department, but what about the lady?
I DO NOT talk to her, or even look at her never retort to her, she is in her 50’s or 60’s…. I’m 21. wtf?

Is Obama’s reviewing the civil rights implications Four Mexican nationals charged with rape, murder of La.woman ?On Sunday, less than 24 hours after the lifeless body of Angela Laudun, 33, was discovered in a remote area, Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Deputies arrested and charged four Mexican nationals with her rape and murder.

According to the sheriff’s office, around 2:00 a.m., Saturday, the woman voluntarily left a Galliano bar with the men, at which time they drove her to a nearby house. Apparently, Laudin became concerned for her safety and tried to leave, but the men held her down and took turns raping her.

At some point, during the ordeal, she was strangled to death.

The men, then allegedly placed the woman’s body in their SUV, eventually dumping her in a heavily wooded area. A few hours later, the body was discovered by a man doing some work on his property.

Gonzalo Portillo Cortes, 20; Esdras Sanchez Garcia, 21; Louis Nava, 28; and Jose Castille Mareno, 23, have all been charged with aggravated rape and first-degree murder.

All four suspects work for Quality Shipyard in Houma, La., and while their employer claims that the men presented valid documents prior to their employment, Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed a hold on them.

The alleged assailants are Mexican nationals and their interrogations had to be conducted in Spanish. They are currently being held in the Lafourche Parish Detention Center.

Does working as a corrections officer in a sheriffs department qualify for law enforcement experience?

I plan on working for my local sheriffs department for a couple of years then I plan on moving to California to become a private investigator. However you have to have law enforcement or investigative experience in order to qualify to get a license, so I was wanting to ask someone who knows if working in a sheriffs department as a correctional officer or deputy would qualify for the law enforcement experience that is needed to get a P.I. license in California?? P.s.: What is the difference between a sheriff deputy and correctional officer at a sheriffs department? Thank you very much!

I want to become a Buffalo Police Officer. I realize that just two years ago they had a big hiring push and had a lot of people take the exam, so they probably will not be offering another exam for a while. I was thinking that in the mean time I would try to become a county Deputy Sheriff and after some time try to do a lateral transfer. I know what the requirements are to become a Deputy Sheriff and I am in the process of meeting them. I just joined the reserves as security forces (military cop) and have started the process of getting my degree in criminal justice (have about 25 credits so far). What I can’t seem to find are the requirements for employment as a Buffalo police officer or how the process of doing a lateral transfer works.

If anyone could help shed some light I would greatly appreciate it.

Leaders in the Hispanic community are upset over the opening of a fugitive office, designed to capture criminal undocumented immigrants. Some feel the implications go beyond catching criminals.

Sunday, U.S. Representative John Sullivan announced the opening of the immigration office, which the sheriff’s office hopes the office will be housed at the Tulsa County Jail.

Everyone agrees felons should be off the streets and locked up. But, what the Hispanic community fears is the round-up of undocumented workers under the guise of looking for felons.

“If ICE goes to a work site to arrest a fugitive and they found out there are undocumented aliens there, the mandate is to arrest everyone,” says Community Activist Sebastian Lantos. “I don’t see how that’s not going to happen.”

One attorney told NewsChannel 8’s Yvonne Harris the new office also puts fear into landlords and employers who may be housing or employing illegal immigrants.

Federal law enforcement turned a deaf ear to sheriff’s Sgt. James Anderson’s pleas for help in an identity theft investigation, but that didn’t stop deputies from arresting 55 people for suspected Social Security fraud.

Deputies executed a search warrant at L&M Optical West in Valencia Feb. 5 after residents tipped off deputies about employees using stolen Social Security numbers to secure work at the company.

The tips from identity theft victims prompted a three-month investigation, Lt. Brenda Cambra said.

Santa Clarita Valley sheriff’s deputies worked late into the night Feb. 5 booking all 55 suspects, she said.

“We had to bring on extra staff to handle the bookings. We transported people downtown because our holding cell isn’t big enough,” she said.

The Social Security Administration volunteered tips to residents whose Social Security numbers were stolen, but they wouldn’t help local law enforcement, Anderson said.

“We contacted the Social Security Administration to help identify the victims,” he said, and added he was told the administration couldn’t join the investigation.

“They didn’t tell me why except that the Social Security Office of Inspector General handles those crimes and wasn’t willing to help,” he said.

The Inspector General’s office did not return phone calls from The Signal Friday.

My home is in foreclosure and my realtor has a buyer willing to buy the home at a price agreed on by the bank. Initially the realtor told me the balance of what I owe would be “forgiven” by the bank. Today she informed me that the bank requires I sign a form indicating my continued responsibility for the balance. I’m 65 and unemployed, currently receiving social security, a minimal monthly retirement payment, and unemployment compensation. My future employment prospects are bleak. I cannot afford to pay off the balance. The home is scheduled for a sheriff’s sale in a few weeks. The bank will receive much less after a sheriff’s sale than they would if they agreed to the short sale without requiring the balance from me. Should I now consider filing for bankruptcy? Do I have any other options? I would appreciate any advice. Thank you (frustrated grandpa of 13)

A woman who purchased a Texas woman’s name and social security number to get a job in Alamance County was charged with identity theft.

Alamance County Sheriff’s Department received a call from Veronica Arias of Combes, Texas last week. Arias reported to authorities that someone was using her name and social security number, according to a sheriff’s department news release.

“Mrs. Arias has been contacted by the Internal Revenue Service in reference to unreported earnings in Alamance County,” the release states. “The Social Security Administration advised her that the individual was using her social security number for employment with Honda Power Equipment in Swepsonville.”

Honda officials verified that they had an employee using that name and social security number. After an investigation, the sheriff’s department determined that Maria Sanchez, 30, of Ivey Road, Graham was allegedly using Arias’ information.

“Mrs. Sanchez, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, advised that she purchased the name and social security number but refused to discuss how the information was obtained,” the release states.

Sanchez was charged with identity theft and was placed in Alamance County jail under $10,000 bond.

One of the two women who interviewed me at Hennepin Sheriff’s Office wrote an answer that I did not even say on the packet she had of questions to ask me. I am so confident of this that if they do a cross comparison of what both interviewers wrote they would see they don’t match. When she asked me something very close to “Have you ever been disciplined or been spoken to about an error you made” I responded at Pearson Education we were given reports of our errors so we can improve ourselves. It was after I said this that she started writing a whole lot of words with a facial expression that is very odd and hard to explain. They were surprised at my high rate of typing 90wpm with 1 error which I did with my previous sheriffs office interview in which I was told that I will be put on the eligible list and the position was placed on hold due to budget deficits and given a business card of the Supervisor.

Back to the recent sheriffs interview, I even noticed her make a sort of circle on the paper after she finished writing and I am 100% sure she wrote things that I did not even say. I think it’s because I am Somali and physically look different that caused her to react differently to my answer than she would have if it was a person from America. After she got done writing she didn’t give me any further info (such as a business card) and said we will get back within 2 weeks. She sent me a letter saying “the decision was a hard one.”

I don’t care if I am not offered a position what is disturbing is the fact that she is writing things people don’t even say because of some sort of inner stereotype she has that she may not even be aware of. I’ve been stereotyped quite often in my life because I physically look young from the outside but at the same time I was fortunate enough to get hired by Human Services twice.

I have employment history with the County which has allowed me to get called for interviews and offered 2 Human Services Department position.

I just passed the written and video exam for the Detention Deputy and strength, agility and psychological are next and I hope I pass all and get offered the position.
A lady friend of mine who also worked at Human Services at the same time as the interview told me that they did not even sent her a letter like they did with me. She is also African American like me. In my opinion, if a person takes the time to come to an interview and in my case even take time off from Human Services that person should at least get a letter notification.

I Have bad Credit, I owe money to collection company’s I have an unpaid medical bill and i owe money to the Long Beach Court house which is the only dept I’m paying for at the moment for a Hit & run accident. I have a valid DL, no felony’s, just a minor misdemeanor which like i said I’m paying for at the moment. In total I have no more then $5000 in unpaid Bills.

BRASELTON, Ga. — At a time when many Georgians are having trouble finding a job, a CBS Atlanta investigation has uncovered illegal immigrants working at Chateau Elan. A former employee thinks she was fired after 14 years because the resort could pay an illegal immigrant less money.

Chateau Elan is considered by many to be a playground for the rich and well-connected. Guests enjoy the on-site winery, pristine golf-course, spa services at the immaculatley manicured resort in Braselton. But employees tell CBS Atlanta Chateau Elan has a hiring practice management doesn’t want to talk about.

“The truth is they hire illegal immigrants,” said a current employee who asked that her identity be hidden. Undercover video shows Spanish-speaking employees working in housekeeping, laundry and the winery. The employee said some illegal immigrants asked to marry her so they could get “papers” that would allow them to stay in the country legally.

Gwinnett County Sheriff records show a Chateau Elan supervisor was arrested for driving without a license in March and turned over to immigration authorities because he wasn’t in the United States legally. Sheriff office documents show nearly a dozen others who claimed to work at Chateau Elan were not United States citizens when they were arrested from 2000 to 2010.

“I liked working at Chateau Elan,” said Barbara Schindler. The 14-year employee was terminated in January 2009. She believes she was replaced with cheaper illegal labor.

“It’s wrong. It’s hard to find work,” said Schindler.

Chateau Elan management would not agree to an on-camera interview.

In a statement sent to CBS Atlanta, the resort’s president and CEO Henk Evers wrote: “We would not dishonor its [Chateau Elan's] reputation through the employment of people who do not have the legal right to work within our country.” The statement goes on to say, “your call prompted us to re-evaluate our affiliation with HS Solutions Inc., the outside organization that provides non-guest facing services to Chateau Elan that you mentioned in your phone call to Doug Rollins, Chateau Elan’s vice president of sales and marketing. Effective immediately, we have terminated our contract for outside employment services with HSS.”

Did Chateau Elan break the law? A spokesperson for the resort said it was up to HS Solutions to verify the legal status of each applicant. Failure to Uphold Immigration Laws Leads to the Death of a Deputy Sheriff

During the past several months, I have commented on the failure of law enforcement officials to enforce the nation’s immigration laws, thereby giving illegal alien criminals an advantage that they should not have.
Law enforcement officials argue that they have to give illegal aliens a pass for violating immigration laws in order to gain their confidence and support. While this may work in some cases, it also leaves violent, criminal illegal aliens free to go about their business.
The most recent example of this can be found in a rural area in western Utah where an illegal alien has been accused of killing a female deputy sheriff.
The accused killer’s immigration status should not have gone unnoticed in the small community where everyone knows everyone else. After all, he had been deported multiple times and been arrested twice for illegally reentering the United States. He had even served jail time for illegal entry.
In addition, he was a known drug dealer and had sold drugs to the brother of the deputy sheriff only minutes before he killed her.
His MySpace page showed him with firearms even though both as a convicted felon and an illegal alien he was not allowed to possess firearms.
He was apparently able to readily find employment with dairy farmers in the area even though he was not authorized to work in the United States.
This is a tragedy that did not have to happen. Had the accused killer served his first prison term of 15 years rather than being released and deported after just 14 months, or had he been given the maximum sentence for reentry into the United States, he would not have been back in the community.
Had the federal government controlled the border, he would not have been in the United States.
Had the sheriff and other law enforcement officials sought the assistance of immigration authorities, they could have arrested the accused murderer at any time for illegally reentering the United States and he could have been sentenced to a long prison term.
Had anyone viewing the MySpace page of the accused killer reported his illegal possession of firearms to law enforcement, he could have been arrested.
Had local dairy farmers used E-Verify rather than turning a blind eye to his illegal status, he would not have been able to find work and may have left the area.
And had citizens of the community truly understood that illegal aliens routinely commit multiple felonies to get jobs and that they foster a culture of corruption, they may have been less accommodating to the illegal aliens in their midst.
There is enough blame to go around in this case, but it is inexcusable for law enforcement officials to let a known illegal alien continue to live and work in their jurisdiction. Had they just used the immigration laws that are already on the books, they may have saved the life of one of their own.

Police department or sheriffs office?

I know the difference between the two is jurisdiction and who employs them but their has to be a difference in job description. I live in Orlando FL and around the whole city I’ve only seen about 1 or 2 police cars, but sheriff deputies are everywhere. I assume the police department mainly responds to calls and handles investigations and stings and that sort of stuff while the sheriffs office is mainly for patrol? I’m looking to join the force but don’t want to drive around handing out tickets my whole life as I know I have to start out that way anyways.

A late-night raid of City Hall and the Main Library here by 60 heavily armed sheriff’s deputies and posse members searching for illegal immigrants has escalated tensions between city officials and the county sheriff, who ordered the raid.

The operation took place at 2 a.m. on Thursday, timed to catch suspected illegal immigrants working as janitors on the overnight shift. Deputies did not find any suspects at City Hall, but arrested three people at the library whom they suspected of using forged identification to gain employment at a cleaning company.

The New York Times, along with the Arizona Republic, were not amused. Then again, both have rarely been amused by raids on illegal immigration employers.

The raid also arrested 16 illegals in their homes, and the manager of the cleaning company which had been contracted to provide the service. There is a report that 15 other illegals are on the run.

It gets better, though, because the mayor of Mesa is livid over the issue. Maybe if he was wasn’t positioning the city as a sanctuary city, there wouldn’t be continuing problems in Mesa

(Judicial Watch) In late August a Mesa landscaping company, contracted by the city to work on its public parks, was raided by Maricopa sheriffs and nearly 30 illegal immigrants were arrested. The sheriff has stepped in to help curb the area’s illegal immigration crisis because the Mesa Police Department has a don’t-ask-don’t-tell policy regarding illegal aliens.

It never fails to amaze me that those elected to government, and police departments, refuse to uphold, you know, the law. And then get P.O.’d when someone else does.
No wonder the Politicians want to get rid of Sheriff Joe.

They are hiring illegal aliens. No wonder our country is going to hell if you ask me.

This kid asked if you have commited a felony in your life can u get into law enforcement. and everyone who replied said “no” that is INCORRECT
I am a deputy sheriff in a LARGE county not a hick village, and I commited a felony when I was 18, I won’t say it is easy but it is possible. Here is the only way I know works, a felony bars you from two very important things
The right to own or possess a firearm and the right to serve in public office
Being a law enforcement officer you are in public office and you need the right to bear arms, that isn’t all you also have to be sworn in and the felony prohibits it. You can handle this in only these ways an EXPUNGMENT DOES allow you to serve in law enforcment LEGALLY a PARDON does also, those are the ONLY ways to pass The Sheriffs standards, now for city law enforcement You need all of your civil rights restored to you, they may not WANT to hire you but you are NOT BARRED from employment. I am proof not many know what they are talking about

Can you report a Sheriff anonymously?

I live in an apartment building that has 8 apartments in it, so the parking lot is very very small (like..13 spots or something). Well, one of the girls living here is dating a Sheriff, and so far I have witnessed 4 different times in which he will come here while clearly on duty (uniform and sheriff car) and he leaves his car running in the parking lot for at LEAST an hour while he’s inside his girlfriend’s apartment. Usually he is in a spot, but one time he just parked right in the middle of the parking lot (always leaving his car running) and went in..well my boyfriend had to leave but was blocked in, so we had to go knock on her door, and he didn’t even care. He moved his car..waited for my boyfriend to leave, and instead of taking his spot, parked in the middle AGAIN.

Being a tax payer I am very angry at the fact that I am basically paying for this cop to pretend he is on duty by leaving his car running unattended for hours at a time while he spends time with his girlfriend. I have his tag number and would like to report him, but I don’t want them to trace it to me seeing as I still have to live here. What can I do?
Recording it. That is an amazing idea! Because it will show how long he stays parked there!
I’m not talking about setting up a video camera in my window..I can’t even see the parking lot from my window, I see his car when I take my dog out. I just plan on taking my camera out there and filming for a few seconds every 20 min or so and put it all together in a nice montage or something. Can a police, CHP, or sheriff pull me over if i have current registration on my car?

im in San Bernardino County, CA & was stopped 5 times in the month of March alone!!

…yeah they are really cracking down out here. well my registration was soon to be expired, i thought i had another week…so the cop pulls me over. i was doing the speed limit, not on the phone…nothing. he tells me when he pulls me over that he can run my plates whenever he wants, wherever he wants. he was the same cop that had pulled me over 2 of the 5 times!!

it feels like he was waiting for my registration to expire, & he CLEARLY knows my car!! my real concern is this…if i have current registration & insurance can i still be stopped if im following the traffic laws? can they legally run to see what the status of my license is through the registration of my plates??

when running my plates what are the limitations as to what law enforcement can & can not do?
well maybe i didnt make myself clear…i know he had every right to pull me over when my registration had expired wether i realized it had expired or not.

my question is when registration/tags are CURRENT…im legal, have insurance & he see’s that when he runs my plates

…is he still able to pull me over, if there is no traffic code violation??

More than 30 criminal aliens, immigration fugitives and immigration violators have been removed from the United States or are facing deportation today resulting from a special enforcement action carried out by an interagency task force led by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Fugitive Operations Team in Phoenix. During the operation, which concluded Saturday, ICE officers worked with partners from the U.S. Marshals Service and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office to locate, identify and arrest 31 illegal aliens. Of those taken into custody, a total of 19 were immigration fugitives, aliens who have ignored final orders of deportation or who returned to the United States illegally after being removed. Six of those arrested had criminal histories in addition to being in the country illegally.

Among those taken into custody by ICE during this special enforcement operation was Carlos Solis-Morales, 38, a citizen of El Salvador previously convicted for possession of cocaine for sale.

The majority of those arrested during the operation were from Mexico

WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF ‘S DEPT. Investigation

A Deputy stops at a ranch and talks with the old ranch owner.

He tells the rancher, ‘I need to inspect your ranch for illegal grown drugs.’

The old rancher says, ‘Okay, but don’t go in that field over there.’

The officer verbally explodes saying, ‘Mister, I have the authority of the Federal Government with me.’ Pointing to the badge on his chest he proudly says, ‘See this badge? This badge means I am allowed to go wherever I wish… on any land. N o questions asked or answers given. Have I made myself clear? Do you understand?’

The old rancher nods politely and goes about his chores.

Later, the old rancher hears loud screams and spies the deputy running for his life and close behind is the rancher’s bull. With every step the bull is gaining ground on the officer. The officer is clearly terrified. The old rancher immediately throws down his tools, runs to the fence and yells at the top of his lungs…..

‘Your badge! Show him your badge!’

I read the entire courtpapers that were online. from what OI read, this guy is guilty. One example is Haidle Gave him a fishing boat,Inturn Carona mailed Haidle a check witch was then endorsed and cashed but Haidle gave back the money the check was cashed for. So that means Carona didnt buy it, it was given to him. Why then does he say he bought it? Second, This guy Haidle,(Asst Sherriff) was also giving checks out like they were party favors and he seems to be the one getting the bad end of the “penalty stick” If u will. Jarmillo took a plea deal that was signed in March of 2007 and so did Haidle.Why does Carona insist he’s inocent when the facts given make it obvious there was something fishy going on? can his “spin” on the whole thing fool the public or is he counting on the publics ignorrance to the whole situation.By no means am I saying the people of Orange County are ignorrant, What I’m trying to say(for a lack of better words “) The O.C Community needs to take a stand!!!
