Am I liable to pay rent in this situation?

My husband and our son currently live in a townhouse, and have lived here for about 7 months. It’s a smaller building, we are 1 of 4 units in the building. On Friday afternoon, someone came to our door serving us foreclosure papers, and letting us know the property will be up for sheriffs auction on December 3rd, however, we have 6 months to live at the property after the sheriffs auction. Being that the property is in foreclosure (and has been for several months, and we’ve also found out that the landlord has not been paying the mortgage at all, that everyone’s rent has been going directly into his pocket every month..) Are we still liable to pay him rent for the remaining months? He told us ‘whoever decides they don’t have to pay rent this month will be evicted’.. however, we also found that the company who wrote up our lease agreement is no longer in business. Does that make the lease null in void? There is absolutely nothing in our lease about foreclosure. I just want to know what our responsibilites and what not are in this situation. Thank you!

I’m currently looking at a house that is owned by a bank. The house was foreclosed on and went to a sheriff’s auction where the bank purchased it back. Is there any differences between buying from a bank vs. buying a house from an individual?

Can I legally get back into my house during foreclosure?

I’m in the process of bankruptcy and we’re foreclosing on our house. We’ve moved out already, however, we still have some things I’d like to get out if I can. Problem is: there is a lockbox on the door, and it went up for a sheriff’s auction this past Friday (and it did sell). I am assuming that we’ve lost our stuff, but I thought I’d ask here anyway. This is in Ohio in case that matters.

I filed for bankruptcy last Oct 05 husband did not and we want to purchase a house and land that is going up for Sheriff’s Auction. Will we be able to get a loan? And where should we go to get a loan?

Any suggestions? My landlord’s house is in foreclosure and up for auction next month.?

Hi I need some help. I was served papers for my landlord who lives
upstairs, for a foreclosure back in Dec. we talked to her about it, and
she said that she is working it all out, and not to worry. I came home on
Wednesday the 22nd of Apr. and there was a huge Sheriffs Auctions Sale
notice posted to the front door.

I again went up and talked to her because I don’t want to be locked out of
my apartment or lose my belongings because of her mishap. She again told
me don’t worry about it that the mortgage company she is working with
tells her that everything is ok don’t worry about the notice. I looked it
up on the internet and it is posted for Auction.

I walked away feeling like she was lying to me because in her next breath
she said her husband would be home on Friday the 24th and not to say
anything to him about it. (hes been in boot camp since Jan.)

We spoke to her on Sunday and told her that we were looking for a new
apartment and she was like…”well, if that’s how you feel about it” and has been
ignoring us ever since. We have found a new apartment and are planning on
moving in May 15th. We ran into her husband and he asked what were we
doing spring cleaning, and we told him no that we are moving and planning
on doing it the 15th of May.
Needless to say she never said anything to him about us moving out.

Here is my issue she has a $400 deposit of mine, I don’t want to pay my
rent for May since my (month to month) lease is up on the 5th and we are moving on the 15th. I feel because she hasn’t been honest with us she is forcing us to
take on this financial burden of having to come up with more money for a new
deposit and 1st months rent…Which we really don’t have.

My plan is to let her keep the deposit of $400 and that will be the rent
for the 10 days we will be there.

So since she is avoiding us like the plague, and we don’t see her I have
to write a letter to her. I am not concerned about being put on the do
not rent list. I just don’t want to come home and have locks on the doors
and lose my belonging.

Please be kind thank you in advance for your suggestions.

What happens to the money owed on a foreclosure after an auction failed to cover the amount owed?

I was looking at the Sheriffs sale and a lot of the houses are appraised for LESS than owed on the house. So shat happens when they don’t get enough to cover the loan, who pays the rest? Do the owners just do bankruptcy?

My stupid landlord didn’t pay the mortgage which I kind of assumed when the sheriff was here looking for him. So anyway the date of public auction is 10/27/07. I am going to start looking for an apartment tomorrow, but does anyone know how much time I will have to move and do I need to continue to pay rent?

I am 7 months pregnant and have an 8 year old son with special needs. Should I be looking for something right away or do I have until maybe November 1st?

If someone buys proprety from a sheriffs auction can they take the personal items on that property?

We had a boat and a few other items on that property and had no idea it was up for auction all we had was a verbal agrement with the owner (wich there property is next to ours) that we could use there big shed to store our boat and riding law mower there.

I see these newspaper articles about real estate auctions. There are the regular county auctions (sheriffs auctions) that real estate companies buy to sell for profit later at their own house auctions. Regardless of who hold auctions, is the winning bid real the total cost of buying a house from the auction? Can you buy a house from an auction for say few thousands dollars? I can’t google the real estate buying process. Where I can learn about the process of buying houses?

Eight teenagers were arrested on charges of kidnapping and battery in Lindsay’s attack: April Cooper, 14, Mercades Nichols, 17; Brittni Hardcastle, 17; Kayla Hassell, 15; Brittany Mayes, 17; Cara Murphy, 16; Zachary Ashley, 17; and Stephen Schumaker, 18. All posted at least $30,000 bond and were released from the Polk County Jail. Nichols, Hardcastle and Mayes also face a count of tampering with a witness. Ashley and Schumaker served as lookouts during the beating, sheriff’s officials have said.

While speaking to the emergency dispatcher, the mother of Lindsay’s friend, who was not identified in the call released Tuesday by the Sheriff’s Office, told the operator the teen had blood in her mouth, a knot on her eye and may have broken a tooth.

“I am a nurse, and she doesn’t look too good right now,” the woman said. “She’s shaking all over.”

The mother told the 911 operator that her daughter also had “trouble with these same girls . . . They just are toughies around town.”

A state criminal-records search conducted by the Orlando Sentinel showed Cooper, Nichols and Schumaker each had been arrested prior to the beating. Cooper was arrested in November on a misdemeanor battery charge by the Mulberry Police Department.

Nichols was arrested on Valentine’s Day on a felony count of aggravated stalking after an injunction for protection was filed against her and also a related misdemeanor charge for allegedly harassing a Lakeland male.

Schumaker was arrested in 2006 on charges of burglary, marijuana possession and larceny.

Neither the State Attorney’s Office nor the Department of Juvenile Justice would comment on any of the arrests or disposition of the cases because, they said, juvenile records are not public record.

First I would like to apologize for the ridiculous header here, but this question needs some attention. For the last year I lived in Des Moines, IA. Iowa is a Judaical foreclosures state so naturally I went to the courthouse got my list of notices of default and started down the list. Also I started attending the sheriff sale auctions on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s. This is when things started getting weird. About every 3-4 weeks I would watch someone get a ridiculous deal. When I say ridiculous deal I don’t mean 20k instant equity, it was more like 40-60k of instant equity! Apparently some hacker got on the site this weekend and wrote “Azad was here” which is perfect for me because you now can’t see the address or person in foreclosures name so it is going to be hard do some of this but the next thing to look at is the recorders site

When the city corrects the website you will be able to input the defendants name. Look at the liens. This company must have started the bidding at 50k! I guess what I came here to ask is if I can find these deals and just can’t outbid the house buyers guy what do I do? Anyone out there want to make alto of money? And to answer the obvious question, no I cannot get the financing to do this.
And just so we have the figures right he got the house for 62k and say you could sell it easily for 139-140. Make sure you go to these sites, they have a very good online system.

BARTOW, FL — The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says a woman may have starved herself to death for religion.

Deputies responded to a death investigation Friday afternoon after the husband of 55-year-old Evelyn Marie Boyd found her dead in her bedroom.

Neighbor Diane Brown just shook her head.

“It is amazing that something like that can be going on right beside me,” said Brown.

Boyd’s husband, John Boyd, a bishop at Higher Praise Full Gospel Ministries, told investigators his wife was performing a religious fast.

He said she went inside a special room, prayed and only drank water for 21 days.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A former teacher accused of having sex with students sent a letter of support to the jailed son of Hulk Hogan, authorities said.
Stephanie Ragusa, who is also in jail, sent the letter June 2 to 17-year-old Nick Bollea, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.
The letter was intercepted by Pinellas County sheriff’s deputies after they recognized Ragusa’s name, the jail’s return address and her docket number on the envelope, authorities said. Bollea, who is serving an eight-month sentence on a charge of reckless driving with serious bodily injury, was later given a copy of the letter.
Ragusa, 29, is facing charges of lewd or lascivious battery and unlawful sexual activity with a minor. The telephone at the office of Ragusa’s attorney rang unanswered Saturday.
Jim Bates, an attorney for Bollea, did not immediately return a message left at his office.
Ragusa doesn’t appear to have broken any rules, said J.D. Callaway, a sheriff’s spokesman.
